This letter was enclosed in a 5.75” x 3.25” yellow/orange envelope, with a three
cent stamp in the upper right corner; postmarked JUN 9, MARSHALLTOWN,
IOA The postmark is 15/16” in diameter and is stamped to the left of the postage
stamp. The postmark did not completely stamp. The postmark is blue ink. The
stamp cancellation is blue ink, in the shape of a six pointed star with rounded
points and an un-inked ‘x’ in the center.

The envelope was opened by tearing off the right side. The tear removed a
portion of the address. Very slight foxing, especially at the edges. There are blue
ink stains on the back, probably from the postmarks of other letters.

One 7.875” x 10.125” written on front and back.
Written in black ink on blue lined American Express Company stationery
paper. Ink appears unfaded. No foxing. There are several small black ink stains
on page two. There are three creases: one horizontal and two vertical. Folded
size is 5” x 2.5”.
