Joseph Patrick Hoolihan was born in 1950, in New York City, and moved with his family in 1960 to Chestertown, NY then to Granville, NY in 1964. His father was a TV repairman and his mother was a housewife. He attended Harpur College in 1968 and graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy and became an officer, serving for 10 years on active duty. He earned his Master's Degree in Computer Science from John Hopkins University while on active duty. He recently retired from a Computer Sevices Gov't contractor firm after 35 years. At the time of this interview he lived with his wife, a former Harpur Student, in Maryland.
