Biographical Text

John Ellis of Binghamton graduated from Harpur College in 1970 with a degree in history. While at Harpur, he participated in the Outward Bound program and later pursued graduate studies in political science. He went on to work for his family's longtime business, Ellis Furniture in Binghamton, eventually becoming president. After the store closed in 2016, John retired from the business and later began working as a substitute teacher in the Binghamton school system. He continues to live in Binghamton with his wife.
